Diwali Gift: Over 2.18 Lakh Ujjwala Yojana Beneficiaries Receive Free Gas Refill Subsidy in Bahjoi
UP Govt Announces: Free LPG Cylinders On Diwali: On the occasion of Diwali, a gas cylinder refill subsidy distribution program was organized at the Collectorate auditorium in Bahjoi for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. A total of 2,18,989 connection holders in the district received subsidy amounts directly in their bank accounts. The central government contributed ₹324 per beneficiary, while the state government added ₹557.67, bringing substantial relief to women and households dependent on LPG.
The event was presided over by Minister of State for Secondary Education Gulab Devi, with several dignitaries including former MLA Ajit Kumar Raju Yadav, BJP District President Harendra Singh Rinku, and District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Pansiya attending. Education Minister Gulab Devi highlighted that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has distributed subsidies worth ₹1,500 crore to 1.86 crore families across Uttar Pradesh, calling it a Diwali gift aimed at ensuring women’s health, dignity, and empowerment through clean energy access.
During the program, 10 selected beneficiaries were symbolically handed subsidy cheques, while 150 attended in person. Currently, 40 gas agencies are operational in the district under the scheme, offering regular refill services. Authorities confirmed that the subsidy amount is being transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen. District officials including Supply Officer Shivi Garg and Economics Officer Satendra Pal Singh were also present.
