Uttarakhand Flash Floods: 8 to 10 Indian Army soldiers are missing
Uttarakhand Flash Floods: 4 Dead, Around 100 Missing: Due to heavy rains in Dharali of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, villages in the low-lying areas have been affected by flash floods, and many houses have been damaged by the heavy water. The army camp in Harsil has also been particularly affected. As a result, 8-10 army personnel are missing. A scene of devastation was created after heavy rains lashed Dharali village near Harsil in Uttarkashi on Tuesday.
According to a report by news agency ANI, an Indian Army officer said, “There are reports of 8-10 Indian Army soldiers missing from a camp in the Lower Harsil area. Despite the loss of their personnel in this incident, the Indian Army soldiers are engaged in relief work.”
Along with the Indian Army, several relief and rescue teams, including ITBP, SDRF, are engaged in the rescue operation. There are reports that the Indian Air Force is also ready for rescue operations in Dharali. As soon as the clouds clear, Indian Air Force personnel in Chinook MI-17, Cheetah, and ALH helicopters will leave for Dharali. Indian Air Force officials said that the Air Force personnel and helicopters are ready to go for Dharali with the necessary supplies and equipment. As soon as the weather clears, they will depart from Chandigarh Airbase for Uttarakhand.
Considering the gravity of the disaster, a special team of doctors has been ordered to be immediately dispatched to the Dharali region. The team includes surgeons, anesthetists, doctors, and orthopedic surgeons. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert for several areas of Uttarakhand on August 4. The IMD had warned of very heavy rainfall at several places in Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri, and Chamoli.
