Vaishno Devi Temple Will Be Opened

The pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district will resume from Sunday after remaining suspended for 19 days, officials said. The yatra was suspended following the August 26 landslide that killed 34 people and injured 20 others.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (smvdb) made the announcement in a post on ‘X’, saying, “Jai Mata Di! Vaishno Devi Yatra will resume from September 14 (Sunday) subject to favourable weather. For details and booking, please visit the website.”

The board said in it that the temporary suspension was necessary due to bad weather conditions and necessary maintenance of the route leading to the temple. The board said that the yatra will resume as per the scheduled programme, provided the weather conditions remain favourable. The SMVDDB spokesperson advised pilgrims to carry valid identity cards, follow the prescribed routes and cooperate with the deployed staff.

“RFID-based tracking will remain mandatory for transparency and traceability. For live updates, booking services and helpline assistance, devotees are encouraged to visit the official website of the Shrine Board,” the board said.

The board expressed gratitude to all the devotees for their patience and understanding during the suspension period. The spokesperson said, “The resumption of the yatra is a reaffirmation of our collective faith and determination. The board is committed to maintaining the sanctity, safety and dignity of this holy pilgrimage.
