Vice President Election: Date for Vice Presidential election released
Vice Presidential Election Scheduled For September 9 : The Election Commission has released the schedule for the Vice Presidential election. According to the notification, 21 August is the last date for nomination for the post of Vice President. Votes will be cast for this post on 9 September, and after this, the country will get a new Vice President.
If the opposition does not field its candidate in this election, the Vice President will be elected unopposed. Voting in the Vice President’s election is secret. In such a situation, there is a possibility of cross-voting. After the schedule was released by the Election Commission, political activity has intensified.
This is the election schedule
According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, on August 7, the Election Commission will issue a notification regarding the Vice Presidential election. The last date for filing nominations for the post has been fixed as August 21. After this, all the nominations filed will be scrutinized on August 22.
25th August is the last date for withdrawal of nomination by the candidates. On 9th September, the members of Parliament will vote for the candidate. The voting time has been kept from 10 AM to 5 PM. In this election, 233 elected members of the Rajya Sabha, 12 nominated members, and 543 members of the Lok Sabha will participate.
Let us tell you that on July 21, Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President. His term was to end on August 10, 2027. But Dhankhar had announced his resignation citing health reasons.
Qualifications required to become the Vice President:
- A citizen of India
- Must be over 35 years of age
- Eligible to be a member of the Rajya Sabha
- Not hold any office in the state or central government.
