Vicky Kaushal to Play Lord Parashurama in Amar Kaushik’s ‘Mahaavatar’; Gives Up Non-Veg and Alcohol for the Role

Vicky Kaushal, Amar Kaushik Quit Non-Veg and Alcohol for ‘Mahaavatar’ Film: After the success of Chhava, Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal is teaming up once again with producer Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films for an ambitious new project titled Mahaavatar. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film will see Vicky Kaushal portraying the role of Lord Parashurama. In preparation for this mythological drama, both Vicky and director Amar Kaushik have decided to abstain from non-vegetarian food and alcohol to stay focused and spiritually aligned with the film’s theme.

According to reports, Mahaavatar demands intense dedication, and both actor and director want to make the film a truly special cinematic experience for audiences. Preparations for the project are set to begin with a grand puja in mid-2026. Amar Kaushik has already altered his lifestyle in anticipation of the film, while Vicky Kaushal is currently busy with his ongoing project Love and War. Once that film wraps, he will shift his full attention to Mahaavatar.

Initially slated for a Christmas 2026 release, Mahaavatar is now expected to hit theatres in 2028, with shooting scheduled to begin in 2026 and the script currently in progress. Interestingly, Vicky Kaushal’s dedication mirrors that of Ranbir Kapoor, who also gave up non-vegetarian food and alcohol for his upcoming two-part epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The first part of Ramayana is set to release on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part on Diwali 2027.
