Vikrant Massey has shared a story on Instagram expressing grief over the incident and informing about the death of his close one. In this emotional post, Vikrant wrote, ‘My heart is broken for the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the unimaginable, tragic accident that took place in Ahmedabad today. It is even more saddening to know that my Uncle Clifford Kunder lost his son Clive Kunder, who was unfortunately the First Officer working on the flight. May God give you and your family and all those affected the strength to bear this loss.’

After Vikrant’s Instagram story, Clive Kunder started being called Vikrant’s cousin in the media. Because Vikrant had mentioned his uncle’s son in his story. After which, everyone thought that Clive Kunder was Vikrant’s cousin. However, Vikrant soon cleared this confusion. He shared another story and clarified that Clive Kunder was not his cousin but a family friend. He wrote that the media and others are requested that Clive Kunder was not my cousin. The Kunder family is our family friend. People are requested not to spread this confusion too much.

Clive Kunder was the co-pilot

Captain Sumit was commanding Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane (AI171). Vikrant Massey’s brother Clive Kunder, who was the co-pilot, was assisting Sumit. Clive Kunder had 1100 hours of flying experience.

An Air India plane carrying 242 passengers and crew to London crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport this afternoon. According to Air India, the Boeing 787-8 aircraft flying from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick had 242 passengers and crew members on board. Of these, 169 are Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian citizen.
