Somnath: Somnath is situated on the seashore in the Kathiawar region of Gujarat. Somnath Jyotirlinga is also considered to be the first Jyotirlinga on earth. It is believed that this Shivlinga was established by Chandradev himself. Moon is also called Somdev, that is why this Jyotirlinga was named Somnath.

Mallikarjuna: Built on the Srishaila mountain on the banks of the Krishna river in Andhra Pradesh, this temple is considered to be equivalent to Kailash. By visiting this Jyotirlinga, all wishes are fulfilled, and one gets freedom from all sins. By visiting this place, physical, divine, and material troubles are eliminated.

Mahakaleshwar: Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of the Kshipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is the only south-facing Jyotirlinga. The Bhasmarati performed here is world-famous. People believe that it is he who protects Ujjain.

Omkareshwar: Jyotirlinga is situated on the Mandhata mountain on the banks of Narmada in Madhya Pradesh. One attains the four Purusharthas by visiting it. This Jyotirlinga is in the shape of Omkar i.e. Om, due to which it is known as Omkareshwar.

Kedarnath: This Jyotirlinga is situated on the peak of Himalayas called Kedarnath. It is situated on the banks of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in the lap of Himalayas. This is the place of penance of Nar and Narayan. Shiva accepted his residence here on their prayers. The temple of Baba Kedarnath is situated on the way to Badrinath.

Bhimashankar: Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is situated on a mountain called Sahyadri in Pune district of Maharashtra. A river named Bhima flows near this temple, that is why it is named Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga. Also, the Shivlinga here is very thick, so it is also known as Moteshwar Mahadev. The sins of seven births are removed by visiting this temple.

Vishwanath: This Shivling is situated in Kashi. It is said that leaving the Himalayas, Lord Shiva made his permanent abode here. It is said that the time of deluge does not affect this city, hence Kashi is said to be of utmost importance among all the religious places.

Triyambakeshwar: This Jyotirlinga is located 30 km west of Nasik in Maharashtra, near the Godavari River. The Triyambakeshwar temple, located on the banks of the Godavari river, is made of black stone. The closest mountain to this Jyotirlinga is a mountain named Brahmagiri. The Godavari River starts from this mountain. One of the names of Lord Shiva is also Triyambakeshwar.

Baijnath: This Shivling is in a district called Dumka in Santhal Pargana of Bihar. It is said that Ravan was taking Shiva to Lanka with the power of penance, but due to obstruction on the way, Shiva got established here as per the condition.

Rameshwar: This Jyotirlinga is located in a place called Ramnath Puram in Tamil Nadu. It is said that Lord Rama established this Shivlinga before attacking Lanka. Since it was established by Lord Rama, this Jyotirlinga has been named Rameshwaram after Lord Rama.

Nageshwar: This Jyotilinga is located 17 miles away from Dwarkapuri in Gujarat. It is said that this Jyotilinga has been named as per the wish of God. It is said that whoever comes here for darshan with full faith and belief, all his wishes are fulfilled.

Ghritneshwar: This Jyotirlinga was established in Berul village, 12 miles away from Daulatabad in Maharashtra state. It is also known as Ghritneshwar. People from far and wide come here for darshan and attain spiritual peace.
