Who is Colonel Sofia Qureshi?
Sofia Qureshi is an officer of the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army. She serves in the Signal Corps. Lieutenant Colonel Qureshi is from Gujarat. Her grandfather served in the army. So Sofia got to learn a lot from army life from the very beginning. Commissioned from the Officers Training Academy in 1999, she has served in various positions in India, including in the anti-terrorism sector in the Signal Regiment.

Colonel Sofia Qureshi holds the distinction of becoming the first woman officer to lead the Indian Army training contingent in the ASEAN Plus multinational regional training exercise FORCE 18 (in 2016). She was the only female officer contingent commander in all ASEAN Plus contingents. In March 2016, she became the first woman officer to lead an Army contingent in a multinational military exercise.
