Larry Ellison briefly becomes world’s richest person
Larry Ellison, founder and chairman of American tech giant Oracle, has seen the biggest increase in his wealth this year. He became the second richest person in the world on Wednesday, September 10.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ellison is now the world’s second-richest person with a net worth of $363 billion. Musk remains at the top with a net worth of $399 billion. But this year, his wealth has fallen by $33.2 billion. On the other hand, Larry Ellison’s wealth has increased by $171 billion.
Ellison, 81, has been in the news for his professional life as well as his personal life. Ellison was born in 1944 in New York. He had no father. His mother was both his mother and father. When Ellison was nine months old, he contracted pneumonia. His mother gave him up to be raised by his aunt and uncle.

Ellison spent his childhood on the South Side of Chicago. He dropped out of college twice, first from the University of Illinois and then from the University of Chicago. After that, he moved to Berkeley, California, at the age of 22. There, he took a job as a computer programmer at Ampex. In 1977, Ellison started a company with two colleagues, which was later named Oracle.
Known for her lavish lifestyle, Ellison has spent millions of dollars on luxury real estate. This includes properties in Malibu, California, a home with a private golf course in Rancho Mirage, and a Japanese-style mansion in Woodside. She signed the Giving Pledge in 2010. In it, she pledged to donate at least 95% of her wealth to charity.
Just as Ellison lives a luxurious life, his marriage is also in the news. A few years ago, he married a girl named Julin Zhu, who is 47 years younger than Ellison. This is his fifth marriage. He first got married in 1967. Which lasted for about seven years. But then they divorced. After that, he married three more people, but none of them lasted long. Currently, 33-year-old Julin lives with him.
