Why do marriages not take place in the month of Sawan?
The month of Sawan falls during Chaturmas, and during the days of Chaturmas, Lord Vishnu goes into Yog Nidra. According to religious belief, marriages, etc., are not performed without the blessings of Lord Vishnu, because for marriage, Vishnu ji must come out of Yog Nidra. In such a situation, marriages, etc., are not performed for 4 months. Actually, during marriage, mostly the mantras of Lord Vishnu are chanted. On the other hand, the month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Bholenath. It is said that Lord Shiva does not participate in functions like marriage, so it is considered forbidden to get married in Sawan.

Apart from marriage, all other auspicious functions are prohibited in the month of Sawan, which includes functions like Mundan, Janeu, Namkaran, and Griha Pravesh.
