Winter will begin in the State from Sunday
Winter to Set In Across State from Sunday: After the recent cyclone “Montha” weather disturbance has subsided, cold northerly winds have started blowing across the state, marking the onset of winter, said eminent meteorologist Dr. Surendranath Pashupalak.
According to Dr. Pashupalak, from October 31, the minimum temperature in Kandhamal (Baliguda, Phulbani) and Gajapati (Gadapur, Mohna) is likely to fall to around 20°C. From November 2, temperatures across the state are expected to drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
The western and northern districts—including Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Pallahara, Badampahar, and Bahalda—may see minimum temperatures between 15°C and 17°C, while Baliguda, Daringbadi, Gadapur, and Mohna will record night temperatures around 17°C to 18°C. These figures will bring the state’s climate on par with cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Ludhiana in North India during this period.
In the capital city of Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature is expected to dip to 20°C by November 5, indicating the arrival of the first spell of winter.
