World First Half Marathon For Humanoid Robot And Human

Humanoid Robot Half Marathon – For the first time in the world, robots were running along with humans. On Saturday, China organized the world’s first humanoid robot marathon. In this, 21 robots ran alongside humans.

Crowds gathered to watch robots race alongside humans on the streets. The race was intended to showcase China’s progress in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The event comes at a time when competition between the United States and China over new technologies has intensified.

It was nothing short of a spectacle for onlookers to witness 21 humanoid robots from top universities and firms, along with their technical operators, running a 21-kilometer race in Beijing’s Economic-Technological Development Zone.

China’s state news agency released video footage of the race, calling it the world’s first multi-robot running event. A robot wearing a black hat and white gloves was the center of attention during the race. Videos on social media showed some of the robots stalling or falling from the start.

The robots were released one after the other, with a distance of more than a meter between them. They raced on a separate track, and when the batteries ran low, they were quickly replaced, just like in a Formula One race.

At the end of the race, awards were given in several categories, not just for speed, but also for best endurance, best running form, and most innovative form. Out of 20 teams, Team Tiangong’s Tiangong Ultra Robot won the race, finishing in 2 hours and 40 minutes. In the human race, Ethiopia’s Elias Desta won the race in just one hour and two minutes.

“The race was a test of the robots’ core algorithms. They had to navigate complex paths, including steep and curvy roads, which revealed their stability, reliability and battery performance,” said Xiong Yujun, CEO of the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.
