Albania’s AI Minister “Pregnant” with 83 Digital Assistants, PM Edi Rama Announces Bold Expansion of AI Governance
World’s First AI Minister ‘Diella’, Pregnant with 83 Digital Assistants: Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama Announces: In a groundbreaking statement at the Global Dialogue in Germany, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that the country’s AI-generated minister, Diela, is “pregnant” and expecting 83 artificial children. These AI “offspring” will serve as personal assistants to Socialist Party MPs, supporting them with parliamentary duties, recording session details, and providing policy-related insights. The Prime Minister said the new digital aides would be fully operational by 2026, calling it a major leap forward in integrating artificial intelligence into the nation’s political system.
Rama described the initiative with a mix of humor and pride, explaining that the AI children will inherit their mother’s intelligence and functionality. “Suppose an MP goes out for coffee and is late — the AI assistant will tell them what was said while they were away and how to respond,” Rama said. He emphasized that these assistants will make governance more efficient and ensure MPs remain informed and responsive, even outside the chamber.
Appointed in September, Diela made history as the world’s first AI government minister. Designed as a woman in traditional Albanian attire, she oversees the country’s public tender system to promote transparency and eliminate corruption. With her “83 children” soon to join the political ranks, Albania is positioning itself as a global pioneer in digital governance — a bold experiment blending artificial intelligence, administration, and accountability.
