Zohran Mamdani is 34 years old. He was born in Uganda and brought up in New York City. He is a member of the New York State Assembly and a Democratic Socialist. Mamdani faced off against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was running as an independent candidate, and Republican Party candidate Curtis Sliwa. Prominent figures like US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk supported Cuomo in this election.
Zohran Mamdani’s Connection in India: Zohran Mamdani was born in Uganda (East Africa). However, his roots trace directly to India. His mother, Mira Nair, is a Hindu, and she is from Rourkela, Odisha. Born in 1957, she is also a renowned filmmaker. She has directed films like ‘Salaam Bombay’ (1988), ‘Mississippi Masala’ (1991), and ‘Monsoon Wedding’ (2001). His father, Mahmood Mamdani, is a Ugandan scholar. He is a professor of anthropology at Columbia University. Mahmood Mamdani was born in Mumbai in 1946. He grew up in the Indian diaspora in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
