108 Ambulance Service on High Alert Ahead of Cyclone Montha: Emergency Response Strengthened: The 108 Ambulance Service has stepped up preparations as Cyclone Montha approaches. According to Emery Green, the operating company of 108 Ambulance, the call center has been reinforced with backup power, internet, and communication systems to ensure uninterrupted emergency services. Additional staff have been deployed to handle the anticipated rise in emergency calls, ensuring that no distress call goes unanswered. Vehicles have been secured, and a dedicated cell has been established at the call center for smooth coordination during the cyclone.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in areas including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nabarangpur. District Coordinators have been instructed to coordinate with District Health Authorities, local administrations, and police officers to provide timely rescue and ambulance assistance in affected areas. All ambulances have been stocked with essential medicines, first-aid kits, and medical equipment. Vehicles have been parked in safe locations following district authorities’ advice.

Sabyasachi Biswal, state chief of 108 Ambulance Service, stated that the team is on high alert during the storm. Ambulance staff have been provided with dry food, drinking water, and personal protective equipment to carry out their duties safely. He urged the public to stay indoors during heavy rainfall or strong winds and contact 108 immediately in case of any medical emergency, emphasizing that staff safety and patient care remain the top priority.
