Noida Private University Student Kills Self Over Staff Harassment: A student committed suicide on Friday by hanging herself from a fan in the girls’ hostel of Sharda University in Greater Noida. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Sharma, a resident of Lok Vihar, Phase Three, Gurugram. She was a BDS second-year student. The family alleges that their daughter took this horrific step after being fed up with the indecent behavior of the teachers. The student has also mentioned this in the suicide note. Angry students and family staged a sit-in at the university gate. The university administration has suspended two teachers on this charge.

Knowledge Park police station has arrested two accused in the case of the died of a student at Sharda University. On Saturday, the family of the deceased student, Jyoti Sharma, sat on a sit-in at the university gate. Jyoti’s mother has filed a case against Sharda University. During the protest, some students got into a scuffle with the police. It is being reported that the police beat up the protesting students badly.

Earlier, a video of a scuffle between the police who arrived on the information last night and the university students has also surfaced. In this, a large number of angry students are seen chasing the police. After this, some policemen are seen going at high speed in a white car. It is being said that there was a lot of uproar between the students and the police throughout Friday night. In this, the police have also been accused of beating some students.

The students demonstrated

As soon as the students of the university came to know about the death of the girl student in the morning, they all united to protest and started shouting slogans against the university management. Jyoti’s family also joined the protest with the students. The girl student’s family, students, and local people protested vigorously. The protesters have accused the university of negligence. Given the protest, Sharda University has suspended both the accused professors. Additional DCP of the area, Sudhir Kumar, also reached the spot to handle the situation. A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the university.

Both teachers were arrested
The police have arrested both the accused teachers. Some protesting students were chased and beaten badly by the police. Even their clothes were torn. Not only this, the police brutally lathi-charged the students who were peacefully protesting against the suspicious suicide of a girl student in Sharda University this morning. The video of this incident is also going viral on social media.

The victim’s family alleges that the student was constantly being treated indecently by a professor of the university management. Fed up with this, the student took her own life. The student had informed her family members about this several times. The student has also mentioned this in the suicide note written before committing suicide. Angered by this, the victim’s family, along with the students, started a sit-in protest by sitting at the gate of the university campus on Saturday. A large number of police forces are deployed at the spot. Top police officials are constantly trying to convince the victim’s family. The police have registered a case against five accused in the matter.

Investigation continues

In this regard, Sharda University’s PR Director, Dr. Ajit Kumar, said that we express our condolences to the family of the deceased on this incident. Also, whoever is at fault behind this will be given severe punishment. Two teachers have been suspended with immediate effect in the case. An investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of a vice chancellor. Action will be taken after the report comes.
