Disco Dancer 2 Sequel: Ranbir Kapoor Or Allu Arjun, Who Will Be The New Jimmy: After a legal battle that lasted for almost two years, filmmaker Subhash B has won the copyright dispute against Shemaroo Entertainment for his cult classic Disco Dancer. On August 12, the Bombay High Court ruled that the intellectual property rights of Mithun Chakraborty’s 1982 film always belonged to Subhash B. According to Subhash, in 2011, he had given only limited video and satellite rights, while the creative and authorship rights remained with him.
After the legal victory, Subhash is now preparing to make Disco Dancer 2 with co-producer Nitin Kumar Gupta. He says that the new film will also be full of dance and music, and its scale will be bigger than before. Subhash revealed that he would like to cast Ranbir Kapoor or Allu Arjun for the role of the new ‘Jimmy’, as both are excellent actors and brilliant dancers.
‘Disco Dancer 2’ announced after 43 years
The screenplay of the film is being written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, who is known for hits like Bahubali and RRR. Subhash told that he had started working on the story even before the settlement of the case. Although he can take charge of the direction himself, the final decision will be taken only after the selection of the main actor of the film.
There will be anti-establishment fervour in the story
According to Gupta, while the first film was the story of a poor boy who challenges a business tycoon, the anti-establishment sentiment will remain in the sequel as well. The special thing is that the film will be shot in Russia, where the disco dancer still has a huge fan base. Also, the film will have a great soundtrack created in collaboration with Russian bands and other international music artists.
The filmmakers say that Disco Dancer 2 will not just be a sequel but an attempt to revive the spirit of the old Jimmy in the new era. For the audience, it will not just be a celebration of dance and music but will also present a powerful story of emotions and struggle.
