Kharabelanagar police rescued a minor girl from trafficking
Minor girl rescued while being trafficked for illegal activities. A minor girl who was being planned to be used as a prostitute in the Unit-4 area of the capital Bhubaneswar was rescued by the Kharavel Nagar police from a hotel on Wednesday. The police have detained an accused in this incident and are interrogating him.
According to reports, the minor girl from Dhenkanal district was working in a private company in Bhubaneswar’s Bermuda area for the past few months. It was during this time that she came in contact with the accused youth. The accused took the minor girl to a hotel in Unit-4 area after promising to give her a job as a receptionist in a showroom. There, he planned to employ her in prostitution. But the minor girl, knowing this, escaped from the hotel with the help of a local resident and informed the police.
Kharavela Nagar police immediately reached the hotel and detained the accused youth. Police investigation is ongoing in the matter. However, the police’s initial suspicion is that the accused is involved in a sex racket and wanted to recruit the minor girl for this illegal activity.
