Why bakrid celebrated
Bakrid Is Being Celebrated Across The Country :Today the festival of Bakrid is being celebrated with great pomp across the country. Bakrid is also known as Eid-ul-Azha, Eid ul Juha, or Eid ul Bakra. This festival is considered a symbol of sacrifice and humanity. In Islam, it is also called ‘Festival of Sacrifice’. According to the Islamic calendar, the date of Eid every year is based on the position of the moon. Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zulhijja which comes 70 days after the end of Ramadan.
What is the significance of Eid-ul-Azha?
The story of Eid-ul-Azha is related to Hazrat Ibrahim, in which he was ready to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail on the orders of Allah. But, God gave him an animal. Therefore, a goat, sheep or any other animal is sacrificed on this day. The most important ritual on Bakrid is ‘Qurbani’. Through this sacrifice, the message is given that one should have the spirit to sacrifice anything in the path of Allah.

Why is sacrifice given?
Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated in the memory of the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim. On this day, people of Islam sacrifice an animal. In Islam, sacrifice is considered valid only with the money earned through halal method. One cannot keep the meat of the sacrifice for his family alone. It is divided into three parts. The first part is for the poor. The second part is for friends and relatives and the third part is for the family.
How is an animal sacrificed?
In Islam, only those animals are considered legitimate to sacrifice which are healthy. If the animal has any kind of disease or problem, then Allah is not happy with the sacrifice of such an animal.
Traditions of Eid al-Adha– Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid is not just a religious festival, but also a symbol of happiness, harmony and humanity. In many countries including India, the day of Bakrid begins with Eid prayers. People wear new clothes on this day, wish each other ‘Eid Mubarak’ and distribute gifts and sweets. Also, donations are made to the poor on the occasion of Eid. While Saudi Arabia celebrates Bakrid a day earlier, in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia this festival is usually celebrated a day later.
