Heavy rains caused floods and landslides in Mandi: 4 dead, 16 missing and 287 rescued amid ongoing evacuation
Cloudburst, Landslides In Himachal Pradesh: 4 dead, 16 missing: Nature has wreaked havoc in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The continuous rain here since Monday has disrupted everything. Flash floods have occurred in many areas of Saraj, including Dharampur, Gohar, Bagsyad, and Pandoh of the district. Mandi district has released a report. It has been said that 261 roads have been closed in the district, while more than 1700 transformers have stopped working. There has been heavy damage in many subdivisions of the district. Somewhere, houses have collapsed, somewhere, people have gone missing. At many places, roads and the communication system have also been affected.
Four people have died in the last 12 hours, while 16 people are still missing. Considering the situation serious, the district administration has intensified relief and rescue operations. NDRF and SDRF teams are continuously conducting operations in the affected areas. A total of about 100 people have been rescued from across the district. ADC Mandi Gursimar Singh said that the maximum damage has occurred in Karsog. One body has been recovered. Houses and animals have been damaged in Thunag. Nine people are missing in the village of Gohar.
Very heavy rain in Mandi
The Shimla Meteorological Centre said that the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded at Sandhol in Mandi district at 223.6 mm. After this, Mandi recorded 216.8 mm, Pandoh recorded 215.0 mm, Bijahi recorded 196.0 mm, Karsog recorded 160.2 mm, Palampur recorded 143.0 mm, Chaupal recorded 139.8 mm, Gohar recorded 125.0 mm, Baggi recorded 88.8 mm, Kotkhai recorded 83.1 mm, Neri recorded 77.0 mm, Kangra recorded 73.3 mm, Sujanpur Tira recorded 69.0 mm, Narkanda recorded 67.5 mm, Nadaun recorded 66.0 mm, and Kufri recorded 65.0 mm.
