Deputy CM Big Announcement, Mental health education will be provided to children in schools : The Deputy Chief Minister of odisha said that one in every 10 people is a victim of suicide. The main reasons for this are studies, work pressure, family disputes, love affairs, drug abuse. Along with this, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the reprimands of parents and torture by teachers can also increase the suicide rate of students. For this, the government had earlier declared schools as “punishment-free zones”. But God knows how far it has worked. Earlier, the Chief Minister had made remarks in the Assembly, saying that most of the victims are between the ages of 15 and 30, and 90 percent of those who are victims of suicide are mostly teenagers.

The government is worried about student suicides. In the last three years, about 17,000 students have lost their lives. Momentary excitement is increasing, which is the victim of depression. Therefore, the government will open a psychological training center. Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida gave this information in a meeting organized by the Illness-to-Wellness Foundation last week. Along with lessons, sports, psychology training will also be available! The government will take big steps to prevent suicide.

Records show that suicides have increased by 52 percent in 3 years. 5649 students committed suicide in 2021, 6140 in 2022 and 5989 in 2023. The World Health Organization report shows that a total of 16.5 percent of the youth in the country are attempting suicide, with one person losing their life every hour.

The WHO or World Health Organization says that family conflict, financial hardship, mental stress, and abuse are the causes. Psychologist Dr. Prashant Mohapatra said that schizophrenia and drug abuse are worsening the mental state of students. The comparative attitude of parents also affects the mental level. Compared to boys, female students are more likely to commit suicide, and students are taking such drastic steps due to losing their mental balance during their periods. Therefore, the government should be alert, because the students are the future of the country, the psychologist said.
