Legal notice comes to comedy show for playing ‘Babu Rao’ character
Netflix’s ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ has entertained many viewers. Many actors in this show have made everyone laugh through their characters. But due to a recent episode, Kapil Sharma’s show has fallen into trouble. ‘Hera Phiri’ film sponsor Feroz Nadiadwala has issued a legal notice of Rs 25 crore against Netflix. The last episode of the third season of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ came on Saturday, September 20. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar came as a guest. In this episode, actors Kiku Sharda and Krishna Abhishek performed a skit, in which Kiku was seen in the role of ‘Babu Rao’ and Krishna Sunil Shetty. Their comic timing was amazing in this skit as always. But this skit has now cost the show’s producers dearly.

According to a national media report, the show’s producer Firoz Nadiadwala has sent a legal notice of Rs 25 crore to Netflix and the makers of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’. His complaint is that the show has used Paresh Rawal’s popular character Baburao Ganapatrao Apte, a ‘popular character from the Hera Pheri franchise’, without permission. Firoz says that he owns the copyright of the character and the skit was done without his permission. The show’s producer has also clarified that no one has the right to make money by misusing Baburao’s character. He issued a statement and wrote, ‘Baburao is not just a character but the soul of the film Hera Pheri. This character is the result of our hard work, imagination and creativity and no one can own it or misuse it without our permission.’
Feroz’s team has sent a legal notice demanding that Netflix remove the scene in which Kiku Sharda is seen playing the character of Baburao. It has also demanded that the scene be removed from all third-party channels and social media platforms. The notice also states that Baburao’s character will not be used again in future without permission. It has also demanded a written undertaking and an apology within 24 hours.
