Operation Sindoor to be part of NCERT textbooks for classes 3 to 12
Operation Sindoor To Become Part Of NCERT Syllabus: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently released a special module on Operation Sindoor, which is designed for students of classes 3 to 12. This module not only gives detailed information about this military action, but also explains to the children how important this operation was for the security and peace of India.
What was Operation Sindoor, and why was it necessary?
On 22 April 2025, a horrific terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent civilians were killed. This included a Nepali tourist. According to the NCERT module, the role of Pakistan’s political and military leadership is clear behind this attack, although Pakistan has always denied these allegations. Operation Sindoor was a strong response to this terrorist attack from India, aimed at crushing terrorism and maintaining peace in the country.
Operation Sindoor Name: An Emotional Story
The module also states that the operation was named ‘Sindoor’ to honour the sacrifice and pain of the wives of martyred soldiers. This name symbolises India’s sensitivity and respect towards the families of martyrs.
Detailed information about the operation
On 7 May 2025, India carried out missile and air strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). A total of 9 major targets were targeted in this operation, out of which 7 were destroyed by the Indian Army and 2 (Muridke and Bahawalpur) by the Indian Air Force. This operation was completed in just 22 minutes, in which a large number of terrorists were killed. The special thing was that no civilian was harmed in this strike.
Pakistan’s failed response
After the operation, Pakistan tried to launch drone attacks and airbase attacks against India, but Indian air defense systems like S-400, Akash missile system, and MRSAM successfully foiled all the attacks.
Display of Indian military and technical prowess
The operation involved the Indian Air Force’s advanced fighter jets like Rafale, Sukhoi-30MKI, and Mirage-2000. Also, 10 satellites of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) provided real-time intelligence in this operation.
‘Make in India’ technology was used extensively, including the BrahMos and Akash missiles, smart artillery, and indigenous drones such as the Hawk, Scout, and Eagle. This technological boost played a key role in the success of the operation.
Nationwide security preparations
During the operation, blackout and security drills were conducted across the country under “Operation Abhyas” so that the general public can be prepared for emergencies. Such preparations reflect the strength and vigilance of India’s security systems.
Features of the NCERT module
This NCERT module not only explains the military aspects of the operation but also teaches children how India stood united against terrorism and protected the country’s security, honour, and peace. The module describes the country’s fight against terrorism as a symbol of honour and resolve, which will promote patriotism and security awareness among children.
