What Is the New YouTube Monetization Policy?
The youtube monetization policy now requires content to be original, human-driven, and offer real value to viewers. This update builds on YouTube’s longstanding principles but significantly raises the bar for quality enforcement. If your videos are repetitive, AI-generated without editing, or offer little educational or entertainment value, they may lose monetization eligibility.
These conditions have to be fulfilled to monetize the channel
That means to monetize the channel, you should have more than 1000 subscribers. Apart from this, the channel should have 4000 public watch hours in 12 months or 1 crore shorts views in 90 days. However, now the condition will not be just this, but your content should be original and authentic.

Who Will Be Most Affected?
Channels relying on low-effort, automated workflows—especially those using text-to-speech tools or reused content—stand to lose the most. Meanwhile, original creators could benefit as competition from spammy videos decreases, increasing their visibility and audience engagement.
Maintaining Monetization in 2025 and Beyond
• Invest time in scripting and recording personalized video content.
• Add unique commentary or insight to reaction or compilation videos.
• Stay clear of fully automated uploads or AI-only channels.
• Build a brand style—use intros, logos, or formats viewers recognize.
AI Content Is Not Banned—But It Must Be Transformed
YouTube has not outlawed AI-generated content. However, for such videos to qualify for monetization, they must demonstrate clear human oversight and creativity. A simple copy-paste job from ChatGPT or an auto-animated explainer won’t cut it.
ligibility Criteria Remain the Same (for Now)
• 1,000 subscribers minimum
• 4,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million valid Shorts views in the past 90 days
Even after meeting these criteria, YouTube will now conduct a stricter quality check before approving monetization.
